Painting with Sofia

Yesterday, Sofia and I had a "painting date" on the back porch. We went to Michael's and bought $3.99 on sale (normally $9.99) birdhouses to paint. The castle was painted by Sofia & I painted Santi's pirate ship. We had a great time and I hope we can do more paintings this summer on that back porch. She just loves paint!!

Vince's Surprise Party and eventual gift

So, I managed to pull off the biggest surprise for Vince this weekend. I planned a surprise party for his 30th birthday that included old friends, family, and a few randoms. haha. Vince didn't have quite the reaction I had hoped for. He just said, "You dork." Oh well, I tried. Anyhow, for his birthday he asked for a pair of new running shoes. I had to go to Running Central on Sunday because my knee has been bothering me and I had a nice coupon from a race we did a few months ago. I got my feet scanned, I was asked to run and walk to check what shoe fit the best, and I even brought my old shoes so they could see what my feet tend to do. Well, let me tell ya! they put me in the most comfortable shoes and suggested a strap that is amazing for my knee!! I can't wait to take Vince there for his bday present. As he said, "Are they going to be able to scan my brick feet?" Oh yes, and you'll get some awesome shoes for your 30th birthday!!

The red spots indicate where I put the most pressure on my feet. Obviously on my heel and then more on my right foot then my left. I also have medium arches which means I can wear a "neutral shoe". They did notice that my walk is different than my run. When I walk my feet go to the inside, but when I run my feet don't roll in... interesting!! They are so helpful there and I highly recommend them just like all my friends who have gone there to get shoes.

10 mile run with a tunnel under the interstate!!

So I am getting high on the mileage with my long runs and today I got to go underneath the interstate in this tunnel. Lucky for me I am 5'2'' cuz the tunnel is only 6' tall!! It was pitch black mostly with some help of solar powered lights along the hand rail, but it was very dark and spooky. I made noises the whole way!! Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel? Can't wait to take Vince there- very cool!
