So, I received a solo on Tuesday and guess what!? I also got the opening dialogue of the show (which will be done in Spanish and then in English) and I also have a duet with one of the leads :) It seems that I have impressed the music director or probably just got really lucky. Rehearsal is fun and I'm meeting some new people, but I'm also hanging out with the people that I did Man of La Mancha with. We have only been singing at practices, but next Wednesay we are "blocking" that means we are learning where we are on stage during the show. Very cool.
In other news, Vince's last day of work is Sunday and he seems thrilled that the "torture" is finally over. He's tired of waiting for the last day and them switching the date. Today Vince said he literally sat for 10 hours and watched TV. Before the automation, he had all kinds of buttons to push, but now he just watches. Even if something goes wrong he can't do anything about it since Indiana is in control. So a couple of more days and it will all be over.
Sofia is enjoying school, she made a pig portrait that she brought home that is proudly displayed on the refridgerator door. It's so cute, it's about 20 inches big and it has these big googly eyes and buttons for the snout. It's bright pink and I really like it cuz it makes me smile everytime. Sunday, Vince is going to the Packers vs. Rams game in St. Louis and I think Sofia and I are going to take the time to do some art projects at home. She doesn't have a Dunlap shirt so we'll make one of those and I need an Evita shirt (I made one for Man of La Mancha). Pretty cool.
Maybe we'll start on Christmas gifts, we'll see.... she really enjoys painting!!
Happy Friday everyone!!

I GOT A SOLO!!!
So, EVITA practice went VERY WELL last night. In "A New Argentina" there are 8 solos that the workers are talking about what things could change with the new movement of Peron. Anyway, I have solo #7 which is.... More public spending. THAT'S IT. 3 words. nothing more, nothing less. I was thrilled :) And, I also asked the music director if Sofia could be in the show and she said that it would be cool during the big chorus songs. She's going to clear it by our director, but she seems to think he'll be ok with it. How fun! Sofia and I in a show together! COME SEE IT!!

I'M SO TIRED!
Last night, Vince, my dad, Vince's mom and step dad and myself went to the Cubs vs Cards game at Busch Stadium. When we originally bought the tickets it was a 1:20pm game on Sunday. Unfortunately for us, ESPN decided it would be their 7pm game. The game went into extra innings and the cubbies pulled it off with a win of 6-3! Yeah! Except I was so upset that the game ended even later than anticipated that I didn't really enjoy it. We got home around 2:30am and I finally got some z's around 3ish. Oh, did I mention Zambrano (the Venezuelan pitcher) started the game? Ever since he was signed on by the Cubbies I wanted to watch him pitch and I finally got the chance. Anyhow, I woke up at 6am and went off to work.
I'M SO TIRED!!! Definitely worth it, but the consequences have not been fun.

3 year old math
Vince, Sofia, and I are doing well. We are planning to go to the Pumpkin Festival tomorrow since I have practice almost every night during the week. I only have 2 days that I don't have rehearsal and I miss spending time with Sofia and Vince. She's so funny and inquisitive these days. She said to me last night, "Can you read me a book from your head tonight.?" In other words, a story that I make up without the use of an actual book. I loved it, she's getting to be such a great little person. I'm so proud of her, and biased of course, but it doesn't matter. We're teaching her how to add currently (Yeah, Tio Tom cool huh?). We have these foam numbers and they have the math symbols so we've been doing 1 + 2 = 3. She thinks it's really cool and once you get started she won't stop. She wants you to come up with as many combinations of problems as possible... so 3 - 2 = 1.
Pretty cool.
Pretty cool.

Sandra, the soldier "boy
Got lots to tell you all. Where should I start? Probably the title of the post. So, last night I had play practice for Evita... REWIND A WEEK AGO: Our music director says, "Well we still need more guys for our chorus so please let us know if you have anyone in mind that could help us out, especially basses. There is a scene that requires lots of men in uniform and if we have to we will pull some of the women and put mustaches on them." So I think to myself, "That would be fun." FAST FORWARD TO LAST NIGHT: Our music director passes out the list of assignments during the show so we know what music we all need to work on. Guess who is on the soldier list? ME, SANDRA, THE "SOLDIER BOY". Too funny. So, if you were thinking of seeing the show, maybe this is a motivation to come see it. Sandra sporting a mustache.
Next, The Rivermen sent Vince an email stating that he had not been given the job of hosting, but that as a thank you gift there are 2 tickets at will call for the first home hockey game. Nice consolation price :)
In other news, Vince may be opening "Daddy Day Care" this August. One of my collegues is also pregnant and they need someone to watch their baby. They thought of Vince since he is so AWESOME with kids. Very cool.
Alright, well gotta leave on that note.

What's up?
Sofia is just too funny... I'm trying to get her to teach her teacher Spanish, but she keeps telling me... Mami, Mrs. Barnett speaks English. Ha ha. I love it.
Also, still looking for jobs for Vince. This one was suggested by my brother, Omar. 911 Dispatcher. It sounds cool and you get a nice salary during training too. We're looking at it all. No limits here on jobs, a job is a job that helps pay with bills. And by comparing of the pictures below and TV station and a Dispatch Center have the same look...

haven't heard anything, yet...
Well, Vince hasn't heard from the Rivermen and we applied to another job for him. Transport and Lift Team specialist: in other words he would be in charge of taking patients to say surgeries, or changing them from a stretcher to a patient bed or even pushing their wheel chair so they can get to their car. Anyhow, it's at OSF and keeping our fingers crossed.
I had my first rehearsal for EVITA last night. Wow, is all i can say. The music director put me singing the Alto part which I was slightly upset since I usually sing sorprano. HA!! I'm GLAD she has me singing alto, those girls have to hit a high D multiple times and sustain the notes and to be honest with you.... I don't want my vocal chords doing that nor sound like a screaching mouse. Plus, the alto part is actually somewhat high too cuz they are having me sing with another girl alto 1 which is semi-sorprano. ANYWAY, EVITA was cool.
What else.... Oh we are going to Fiesta en el Rio on Friday night which I'm totally excited about!! We haven't had a date night in a while so we are for sure due for one.
Ok, more to come!!
