would you kiss a frog?
We went to see Disney's The Princess and The Frog. Sofia's favorite part was and I quote: "when the frog said, "I suppose you want a kiss"" and the best part is that she says it with an accent. It was cute. We went on free popcorn night (bring your own bucket night) and had a coupon too!! The movie is fun, but there are some scary parts, but we really liked the message:
Life is not about what you want, but what you need.
And what it boils down to is that all you need is Love.

Princesses on Ice...
Here are some pictures from the Princesses on Ice in the quad cities on sunday. We had an awesome time. Besides the show we met up with Omar, did some shopping and had lunch at Famous Dave's. It was a good day for the Iadipaolo clan. A good time was had by all.
Snow white and the dwarfs pictured above was Vince's favorite part. Sofia loved when sleepy laid on the table and went to sleep.

Angels and Princesses
So, the Victoria Secret Fashion Show 2009 was AMAZING. My brother even texted me to see if I was watching it. DUH! There were different themes throughout the night. My favorite set of wings this year, was the image below. Her outfit was cute, but the wings were awesome and I felt that they could be recreated with some YouTube how to make balloon animals help. I felt that the stocking hat was unnecessary, but the wings... gotta love the wings.
The most incredible thing of the night was when Heidi Klum, who just 6 weeks before the show gave birth to her fourth child, walked out on the run way looking FLAWLESS. Wow, if only most of us moms out there could jump back into that kind of a body only after 6 weeks!! She is just Superwoman. Honestly, who doesn't love Heidi Klum? She's just a wonderful person.
Last but not least, today's big news.... WE ARE GOING TO SEE PRINCESSES ON ICE in the Quad Cities. Woo-hoo!!! Sofia and I are both very excited and looking forward to all the "princesssouveniers" that we could "possibly" take home. I told Vince that he's outnumbered, and let's hope that there are some reasonable things for us :)

Pregnancy mood swings... very funny
So, tonight I was all excited that we were going to watch Prep & Landing, a new animated feature by Disney about the story of the elves and how they get Christmas ready for Santa. We had been watching the promos for about a week and I was so excited!! Around 6pm, Vince gave me some devastating news... well maybe not devastating... anyway, he said that President Obama would be giving his Presidential Address on the strategy for the Afghanistan war.
WHAT?!?
In other words, NO PREP & LANDING?!? ARE YOU SERIOUS?!?
I was slightly perturbed and decided to get online and check email, facebook, and mess around on the Internet some for kicks and to let off some steam. I even watched a 45 second preview clip of the animated feature to get me pumped for NEXT WEEK's premiere on Tuesday night.
After about 20 minutes or so, Vince yelled from downstairs... "Hey, Sandra the Victoria Secret Fashion Show is on tonight"
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have I mentioned how much I LOVE THAT SHOW!? LAST year I even put up some pictures of my favorite angels during the show on the blog. Well, Vince was not arguing that we should watch it. What guy is going to say no to one hour of lingerie?
So, yes, I don't get to see Prep & Landing.... BUT I will be watching the fashion show instead and it's going to be awesome!!!!

we haven't fallen off the face of the earth, at least not yet
Well, the Iadipaolo household survived yet another crazy theatre show that I just HAD to be in. Evita FINALLY ended this past weekend. I had an incredible time, met some really cool people (gotta love networking), and did it all PREGNANT!!
Yeah, so most of the people around home know this, but others do not. So, I should take the time explain....
well, when a... nevermind.
We are due May 2nd, so we are 17 weeks along. We don't know the gender of the baby, YET, but will find out hopefully at our anatomy sonogram on December 23rd. We are planning to give the grandparents gifts to let them know the gender of the baby... ideas are welcome!!
We are all doing well. Now that the show is over we have more time to spend together as a family and I can rest again. Oh, and yes I found out I was pregnant the first week of rehearsals!
Oh, and in case you are wondering why I haven't posted in like AGES. It's because they blocked blogs at work and couldn't get to it at home during my 1.5 hours of time before rehearsals almost every night of the week. I hope to update this on more of a dailyish basis.
Happy Turkey day!!!

It's been a while....
So, I haven't written in a while. Here's what's up...
Sofia is loving school still. She is learning her numbers and letters very well. She is an avid artist. We have many of her art displayed proudly around the house.
Vince has cleaned up the yard a million times because of the wonderful trees in our neighborhood. He says next time we move there won't be any trees for at least 8 miles from our house. Ha ha! I said we should just move to a desert.
Me- doing well. Most of you know that I'm PREGNANT!! Others, may have just found out! We are expecting May 2nd. So far so good :)
Louie- still a couch potato dog.
That's it! The short version. Have a safe Halloween tomorrow!

Who stole the cookie from the cookie jar?

I love that Sofia is getting so much taught to her at her school. Yesterday we must have heard this song a million times. It's so funny that she sings it with as much enthusiasm as the first time. She is learning about apples at school right now. They are to cook and eat apples tomorrow. She's really excited about that since I made cinnamon apples the other day... YUM!

when it rains it pours!
So, I received a solo on Tuesday and guess what!? I also got the opening dialogue of the show (which will be done in Spanish and then in English) and I also have a duet with one of the leads :) It seems that I have impressed the music director or probably just got really lucky. Rehearsal is fun and I'm meeting some new people, but I'm also hanging out with the people that I did Man of La Mancha with. We have only been singing at practices, but next Wednesay we are "blocking" that means we are learning where we are on stage during the show. Very cool.
In other news, Vince's last day of work is Sunday and he seems thrilled that the "torture" is finally over. He's tired of waiting for the last day and them switching the date. Today Vince said he literally sat for 10 hours and watched TV. Before the automation, he had all kinds of buttons to push, but now he just watches. Even if something goes wrong he can't do anything about it since Indiana is in control. So a couple of more days and it will all be over.
Sofia is enjoying school, she made a pig portrait that she brought home that is proudly displayed on the refridgerator door. It's so cute, it's about 20 inches big and it has these big googly eyes and buttons for the snout. It's bright pink and I really like it cuz it makes me smile everytime. Sunday, Vince is going to the Packers vs. Rams game in St. Louis and I think Sofia and I are going to take the time to do some art projects at home. She doesn't have a Dunlap shirt so we'll make one of those and I need an Evita shirt (I made one for Man of La Mancha). Pretty cool.
Maybe we'll start on Christmas gifts, we'll see.... she really enjoys painting!!
Happy Friday everyone!!

I GOT A SOLO!!!
So, EVITA practice went VERY WELL last night. In "A New Argentina" there are 8 solos that the workers are talking about what things could change with the new movement of Peron. Anyway, I have solo #7 which is.... More public spending. THAT'S IT. 3 words. nothing more, nothing less. I was thrilled :) And, I also asked the music director if Sofia could be in the show and she said that it would be cool during the big chorus songs. She's going to clear it by our director, but she seems to think he'll be ok with it. How fun! Sofia and I in a show together! COME SEE IT!!

I'M SO TIRED!
Last night, Vince, my dad, Vince's mom and step dad and myself went to the Cubs vs Cards game at Busch Stadium. When we originally bought the tickets it was a 1:20pm game on Sunday. Unfortunately for us, ESPN decided it would be their 7pm game. The game went into extra innings and the cubbies pulled it off with a win of 6-3! Yeah! Except I was so upset that the game ended even later than anticipated that I didn't really enjoy it. We got home around 2:30am and I finally got some z's around 3ish. Oh, did I mention Zambrano (the Venezuelan pitcher) started the game? Ever since he was signed on by the Cubbies I wanted to watch him pitch and I finally got the chance. Anyhow, I woke up at 6am and went off to work.
I'M SO TIRED!!! Definitely worth it, but the consequences have not been fun.

3 year old math
Vince, Sofia, and I are doing well. We are planning to go to the Pumpkin Festival tomorrow since I have practice almost every night during the week. I only have 2 days that I don't have rehearsal and I miss spending time with Sofia and Vince. She's so funny and inquisitive these days. She said to me last night, "Can you read me a book from your head tonight.?" In other words, a story that I make up without the use of an actual book. I loved it, she's getting to be such a great little person. I'm so proud of her, and biased of course, but it doesn't matter. We're teaching her how to add currently (Yeah, Tio Tom cool huh?). We have these foam numbers and they have the math symbols so we've been doing 1 + 2 = 3. She thinks it's really cool and once you get started she won't stop. She wants you to come up with as many combinations of problems as possible... so 3 - 2 = 1.
Pretty cool.
Pretty cool.

Sandra, the soldier "boy
Got lots to tell you all. Where should I start? Probably the title of the post. So, last night I had play practice for Evita... REWIND A WEEK AGO: Our music director says, "Well we still need more guys for our chorus so please let us know if you have anyone in mind that could help us out, especially basses. There is a scene that requires lots of men in uniform and if we have to we will pull some of the women and put mustaches on them." So I think to myself, "That would be fun." FAST FORWARD TO LAST NIGHT: Our music director passes out the list of assignments during the show so we know what music we all need to work on. Guess who is on the soldier list? ME, SANDRA, THE "SOLDIER BOY". Too funny. So, if you were thinking of seeing the show, maybe this is a motivation to come see it. Sandra sporting a mustache.
Next, The Rivermen sent Vince an email stating that he had not been given the job of hosting, but that as a thank you gift there are 2 tickets at will call for the first home hockey game. Nice consolation price :)
In other news, Vince may be opening "Daddy Day Care" this August. One of my collegues is also pregnant and they need someone to watch their baby. They thought of Vince since he is so AWESOME with kids. Very cool.
Alright, well gotta leave on that note.

What's up?
Sofia is just too funny... I'm trying to get her to teach her teacher Spanish, but she keeps telling me... Mami, Mrs. Barnett speaks English. Ha ha. I love it.
Also, still looking for jobs for Vince. This one was suggested by my brother, Omar. 911 Dispatcher. It sounds cool and you get a nice salary during training too. We're looking at it all. No limits here on jobs, a job is a job that helps pay with bills. And by comparing of the pictures below and TV station and a Dispatch Center have the same look...

haven't heard anything, yet...
Well, Vince hasn't heard from the Rivermen and we applied to another job for him. Transport and Lift Team specialist: in other words he would be in charge of taking patients to say surgeries, or changing them from a stretcher to a patient bed or even pushing their wheel chair so they can get to their car. Anyhow, it's at OSF and keeping our fingers crossed.
I had my first rehearsal for EVITA last night. Wow, is all i can say. The music director put me singing the Alto part which I was slightly upset since I usually sing sorprano. HA!! I'm GLAD she has me singing alto, those girls have to hit a high D multiple times and sustain the notes and to be honest with you.... I don't want my vocal chords doing that nor sound like a screaching mouse. Plus, the alto part is actually somewhat high too cuz they are having me sing with another girl alto 1 which is semi-sorprano. ANYWAY, EVITA was cool.
What else.... Oh we are going to Fiesta en el Rio on Friday night which I'm totally excited about!! We haven't had a date night in a while so we are for sure due for one.
Ok, more to come!!

Audtions... again?
Hi yall! I really need to make a habit of posting something everyday now that I have available computer on a daily basis. Well, Evita auditions went well. I got in the chorus and was thrilled. The chorus has more songs than the leads and it is known as a "chorus show". I'm excited again to be a part of such a talented group of people and to meet MORE new people here in the area. I do know some of them already since they were with me in Man of La Mancha. So, Evita is the two weekends in the middle of November 13-22.
Also, Vince is auditioning on Thursday.... say what? Yeah, we read a really cool opportunity for him. As many of you know Vince got his termination letter on Wednesday and his last day is September 27th. So, anyways, here's what's up...
The Peoria Rivermen are in search of talented and energetic people to join their in-game entertainment staff for the 2009-10 season. An open tryout will be held at Carver Arena on Thursday, Sept. 3 from 4-7 p.m. where the Rivermen will be looking for an in-arena host as well as young women to join the Ice Girls.
Ever wanted to grab the microphone and help make thousands of fans cheer, scream and laugh? This is your chance. The in-arena host serves as the voice and face of the Rivermen in-game entertainment during all home games. This fun position will be responsible for emceeing all contests and promotions throughout the games as well as interact with fans in person and on the video-board. Candidates must be energetic, able to communicate effectively and be comfortable performing in front of a large audience.
The Rivermen Ice Girls are the AHL’s newest promotional team that interacts with fans for all in-game contests, both in the stands and on the ice, including t-shirt launches, Knock Your Block Off, and all other entertainment at Rivermen games. Ice Girls will also be attending various community events throughout the year. Skating is not required.
SO, please keep VINCE in your prayers for this fun opportunity!!!

Auditions
It's been a while since we last posted. I have auditions for Evita this weekend. I'm having second thoughts. I have a song prepared, but just not feeling confident. We'll see and it's time consuming yes... but it was Vince's idea for me to go for it.

i'll let you all know how it went.

Maryville Sandra...
Well Sandra is in Maryville again watching the Abuelos while her parents are on Vacation. When she is in Maryville she turnes into Rachel Ray or Julia Child or whatever TV chef you choose.
Above is a patented Sandra creation of Mickey out of Rice. However I've never seen the ears created out of sliced carrots. Maryville Sandra strikes again!!!

These are just a couple creations she sent me on her phone. I was down there and enjoyed a couple dishes before having to come0 back to go to work on wednesday. Why did she have to make the homemade pizza after I left? I'll never know. She did make a mean Spanish Omelete though one night and chicken enchiladas another night.

Unique Antique

On our way home today from Maryville Sofia and I made a pit stop at the Pink Elephant Antique store along Interstate 55. You've probably seen it on your way to St. Louis before. Its hard to miss with the huge pink elephant and big surfer dude. Inside the store was the guy in the wheelchair (middle pic- he's not real). It was a fun pit stop as the main objective was to make sure Sofia didn't break anything. Mission Accomplished. Sandra returns tomorrow, Yay!!!

Mr. Technology

I have pulled a sandra as I have been sending pics from my phone to my e-mail and then posting them on the blog. Its pretty easy to do. As requested here is a pic of the wall after it was primed and painted white. Sandra is going to be so surprised when she sees it. Thanks again Tom. And the other pic is Louie at work with me. Since sandra is gone it becomes bring your dog to work day at HOI. Louie is not the best worker though, he falls asleep a lot and drools. I guess he fits right in here.
One disappointing note, Jose was only able to get tickets to Tuesday's Cards/Dodgers game so I am unable to go cause Sandra flies back in that night. I'd rather be at home watching the Cubs in HD anyway :)

The Bachelor part 2

Most of you know that Sandra is in Costa Rica until Tuesday. So It is time for me to be a "bachelor" for a week. Of course, Sandra always gives me a project to do while she is gone. Its not like I have to work from midnight-10am fri-sun or anything plus wendesday evening. So the project to take down the wood paneling in the living room went well with help from Tom (and Sofia). The photo above is the wall after taking the wood paneling off. We took it down monday and sanded it and spackeld nail holes all while watching the Cubs in HD. Which I set up monday morning after taking sandra to the airport. Feel free to come over for Cubs games and Bears games in High Def.
Tuesday Sofia and I painted the wall with Primer.
Wednesday sofia went to Grandma and grandpa's while I worked.
Thursday I painted the wall White (sandra's request) before picking up sofia at Grandma's. Had lunch at home and drove to Maryville to drop Sofia off at Abuela's for the weekend. Drove home, slept 3 hours before going to work at midnight.
Monday I am going to the Cardinals/Dodgers game with the Abuelos . Jose got tickets through his company. So I will head down to Maryville sunday after work and have a Vince-cation there. They have a swimming pool in their subdivision. Sofia and I will head home Tuesday and pick up Sandra at the airport that night.
I can't wait for Sandra to come home. Mainly to see the Living room and see how sweet the HD looks. That is all

Happy Anniversary!
We celebrated 5 years of marital bliss on Friday, July 17th. On Saturday we had a little get together with family and some friends. The cookout was awesome: burgers, brats, potato salad, spinach salad, and Vince and I also made fruit kabobs (watermelon, cantaloupe, grapes, strawberries, and blueberries- YUMMY!). We also ordered a mini cake from the Cake Shoppe and we sang happy anniversary to you (well Grandpa Paul got the award for best attempt at singing it). We were also blessed with some unexpected gifts a couple of gift cards for some date nights (we don't get out much so this was AWESOME!), a beautiful perennial to plant in the front garden, and we also have a new edition to our living room (SuperBowl PARTY at OUR HOUSE!!!) thanks to Jose and Nere.
I got Vince a 10 picture frame that has the pictures from when we went to Wrigley, which is now displayed in our hallway right next to the bathroom and I received a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers, which was so big I had to split into two different bouquets (so technically I got two :) )
We have received wonderful news that several of our friends and family are expecting babies!! Congrats to all... Kate I, Katie J, Holly, and Jackie.
Alright yall, I'm leaving for Costa Rica tomorrow so Party at Vince's! Since he says I always leave and he does house projects... hum... Here's to hoping that he tares down the wood paneling in the living room and paints the wall white. Cheers!

Oh the places you will go- Maryville
Well, yesterday we went to Shop and Save and wow, I realize now that it's so much easier to take just Sofia to the store. I made the first mistake of saying yes to the giant cart and then I made the second mistake for allowing my grandpa to drive it. Thank God he didn't take out any displays!! I can't believe we were in there for only 25 minutes and I managed to grab everything we needed.

Aren't we cute? We took this picture at dinner on the 4th. Not bad since it was taken on my phone.

This is Sofia and Abuelo Felipe being funny. My grandma couldn't stop laughing seeing my grandpa this way and my grandpa was laughing too. What a great picture (Sofia is wearing Mr. Potato head glasses)

Sofia and I managed to go to the pool twice today. The first time just the two of us and then later on in the afternoon Abuela Acracia joined us.

Maryville continuing on
Happy Fourth of July (yesterday)

We had a lovely time inside the house since it was raining. Abuelo Felipe made us some cafe con leche and even Sofia had some (although I gave her decaf).
We also finally took a walk, the three girls. Abuelo Felipe had to watch his soap opera and didn't want to come. We all took our own umbrellas. That must have been funny to see from a window.
Later on in the evening we watched fireworks from the back porch. That was really fun and I didn't have to drive everyone to a park that was probably all wet from the rain. Remember, I brought the beetle here so it's already pretty funny trying to get everyone in the car. Vince says we should have our own tv show.

Maryville Adventure
So here I am grandsitting my 82 year old grandparents. Today was day one. We didn't do a whole lot. They have a routine that they follow pretty well. They prepare their breakfast and then go for a walk around the neighborhood. Then, they watch TV or grandma cleans until lunch. Then they go back to TV watching or grandma cleaning... you get the pattern. Anyway, I changed the routine today. They did prepare themselves breakfast and took their walk, but then Sofia wanted to go to the "pool". We filled the yakuzi and Abuela Acracia had a great time supervising that everything was safe for her. Abuela Acracia is super great-grandma and is paranoid about everything Sofia could do to herself. She means well, but this drives Sofia crazy.

Then, for lunch I took them to a Chinese Buffet. My grandfather is a big fan of these and takes full advantage of all you can eat. He usually makes a pretty good combination of things for his last plate, and I like to take a picture. Here is today's special: fried calamari, fried shrimp, pork eggroll, chocolate ice cream and vainilla ice cream. Yum!

Having a great time, we miss Vince a lot... but appearantly he's working on a surprise. Although, Sofia already spoiled it. He's painting the back porch. Thanks Papi!!!

day #2- wow
First, we would both like to say that Sofia Iadipaolo is the best 3 year old traveler EVER. She has been WONDERFUL to say the least. We left at 6am this morning and got here at 4:45pm and she did great. We sang, watched two movies, made a foam necklace, and guessed cloud shapes. She did great. The car... well let's just begin with our day.
We left Maryville early and drove until we got to breakfast at McD's two hours later. Then we saw a big sign that said we could see a Giant Statue of Superman in Metropolis, IL. We just HAD to stop. It was a pretty cool town and Superman Days or something like that is June 11 to the 14. What a great little town. They have a museum and an awesome store.
Then as we were pulling into Nashville, I (Sandra) was driving and noticed that I was pretty much fighting with the car to slow down. Appearantly something malfunctioned with the Idle switch and it would not stop accelerating. SCARY!!! We got off the interstate and there was a shell station with a service garage. We got the part, got it fixed. wow. Luckily there was La Taqueria San Juan on the corner and I bought some tacos, quesadilla, and a pupusa from Lupe to get us through lunch. A picture of us eating, yes, on the trunk of our car cuz there was NO place to sit. ha ha ha.
Then we finally arrived in Kennesaw, Georgia. What a great clean town this is. Vince and Sofia took some time to go to the pool so I could download some pictures onto the computer and figure out this whole wireless internet stuff.
Then, it was finally dinner time and we found a restaurant... My cousin Vinny's (a pizzeria). The pizza was amazing. We got the All The Way, it had pepperoni, sausage, beef, green peppers, mushrooms, black olives, onions, ham, and more I'm sure. Delicious!!!
So, now we are back in our room just chilling. Vince and Sofia are watching Finding Nemo since it's on, but mostly Sofia keeps jumping on the bed and laughing. We're having a great time. Earlier when the car "broke down" I could have just walked home, but Vince quickly redirected me in the fact that Sofia was doing great and that Sandra wasn't going to start bringing the mood down. He was right and we laughed for a while. Sofia has been great and "the princesses" have been leaving gifts when she is good so she has gotten lots of cool stuff.
Yall come back and read tomorrow's, you hear?

First leg of the trip- check!
Hi Yall!
We are currently in Maryville, IL home of the greatest frozen custard, and The Avendano's (Sandra's parents). We left Peoria around 3 and arrived around 6ish. Sofia had to stop twice and on the first stop we just HAD to get a McDee's Ice Tea (We love you Uncle Joe!).
We are having supper here. My mom made pork loin, rice, black beans, and is currently making arepas (a Venezuelan cuisine). YUMMY! Then we went to Bobby's...

We shall post again tomorrow night when we arrive in Atlanta.
Until then, LET'S GO ROAD TRIP (clap clap clap clap clap)

ShamWow
Wow-
Vince and Sofia greeted me with one of the greatest "end of the school year" gifts. The ShamWow. We began experimenting it's power. We must have said Wow a million times. How fun! It's pretty good and it does dry very well. We shall continue drying and witness it's incredible force.
WOW!

Sofia's trip to the Emergency Room
Wednesday night was not the greatest girls' night Sofia and I have had. It was just Sofia and I hanging out. We were going to do Snow White make-up on her for fun and I had to go downstairs to get some of the make-up I needed. I was down stairs and she decided to come join me while I was looking in the armoire.
She fell from the top of the stairs all the way down. I quickly checked from her toes up to her head and didn't move her. She had a huge bump on her head and was crying. I immediately called 911. The ambulance ride was very scary (mostly for me), but Sofia told the paramedic everything that happened to her. I was downstairs getting some of our face painting makeup and she was coming down to be with me (which she often does). She dropped a feather she had in her hand and bent down to pick it up and lost her balance. She told the paramedic this on our way to the hospital. All I saw from my angle was her hitting her head on the last step and her little body flipping over to hit the ground. She never once blacked out. At the ER, she had a CAT scan and xrays of her head, neck, and spine. There were NO fractures and the CAT scan came negative, she's mostly sore and still has her bump on her head. We kept her overnight there just in case. Sofia has suffered a concussion, but one couldn't tell with her high energy and all her laughing. The nurses at the Children's Hospital were wonderful to us and she was taken care of by the greatest staff. She is doing just fine. She was even playing outside when we got home from the hospital yesterday. We're so thankful!!
Here are some pics we took at the hospital... The top one is of her on the stretcher wearing her neck brace. She told the nurse that she wants to be Dr. Iadipaolo. The second one is of her in her room having a great lunch: mini raviolis, peas, apple juice, fruit and cheese plate, and some of Vince's ice cream. She's doing fine and is still looking forward to going to Disney in a week!
