In other news, Vince had an interview yesterday morning at WMBD!! He was one of three candidates for the Operation Engineer job. His old boss called the potential boss and told him that he would be making a big mistake if he didn't hire Vince. Hooray! We will know today if they are offering him the job. His schedule would not be cool though... Sunday to Thursday 2pm to 11pm. We would barely see each other. If another person wants to switch shifts then his would be 4am to 1pm. wow. We will let you all know. He will find out today!

Poor baby!
Sofia is still sick, she's coughing and has a runny nose. No fever though. Last night she fell asleep on me at 5:15 and slept for about 2 hours and then went down around 9:30pm. We have been pushing liquids. One wouldn't know she was sick though, we were dancing last night and coloring! Here is a pic of her as she was sleeping on me on the couch...

Another mice bites the dust....
So, we are a fierce unit of mouse catchers at our house. We found one last night and it was not pretty. Of course, I'm upstairs cooking and Vince yells...
(Vince took this pic while I was cleaning up our victim) I had to put on gloves, a long sleeve t-shirt, long pants, shoes, socks, and I was looking for a mask, but couldn't find one. A cat would be nice to have around, but there are too many people in the fam with allergies, plus... who needs a cat when you have The Iadipaolo Mouse Hunters!
"It's YOUR turn".
I'm thinking, oh no, Sofia had an accident (she's all potty trained... woo hoo!) and I said, "What happened?".
"We got a mouse"
"Where?"
"Behind the furnace"
"Great"
"And there's blood"
"Gross!!"
I hate mice and I hate taking them out of traps. Here's evidence

GREAT weekend, strange start to Monday
We had a lovely time at Keila & Bill's wedding in Madison, Wisconsin. My favorite was the fact that Sofia outdanced all the small children at the reception and many of the adults. We left at 9:30pm and she finally fell asleep on the way to the hotel which was a block and a half away. Also, during the evening, my dad got up from the table, went to the bar, came back and started talking with someone and didn't notice that he still had his napkin tucked into his pants. Vince called him Tarzan the rest of the weekend. Vince and I couldn't stop giggling and I just had to snap the pic. We love you Jose!
Vince is ill. He wouldn't admit it until this morning around 3am. He has a nasty cough and a runny nose. He talks like Chewbacca (well not really, but it's funny to say that). Sofia is also sounding hoarse. Can't wait to get sick, since I have musical rehearsal next Monday!
This morning when I came into work to find that one of my classroom roof tiles had fallen to the ground (i.e. the roof caved in). I have reported the leak before and according to our main custodian he has been dealing with that leak for at least 20 years. How exciting. He says that the roofers they get are terrible (obviously) and he says there are only two choices in town. Interesting....
Btw- I figured out that I can text pics to my email account! Noone had ever taught me this and didn't know it was possible! So, look out! I love this "new" feature! So, in case you were wondering the pics I included on this blog were taken on my cell phone. COOL!

To Dream the Impossible Dream
Hi Yall. It's been a while since I posted. Vince is getting ready to go to his 9am meeting at the station. He's wearing his "I'd rather be watching the Cubs" shirt, which I find ironically funny since he's going to a meeting where possibly the are announcing his job is over. He says he is putting on a shirt over it. Bummer. He even shaved and joked to one of his colleagues that he was going to show up wearing a tuxedo. I think he should show up in his "power suit". He has a pink tie and a white shirt with a black suit that he looks pretty "impressive" in.
Anyhow, the Iadipaolo household has been doing well. Sofia's newest frase is "That's Hilarious". We find ourselves constantly laughing anytime she says this. Oh yeah, and "Oh my dear Jesus". She learned that from me when I need to say a short prayer under pressure/stress. She's a great immitator of my grandpa Felipe... she says in a "deep voice"... ¿Dónde está mi café? Which means, where is my coffee? He tends to say this after lunch and dinner. Too funny.
I should probably explain the title of this post. I have been secretly (well not secretly, Vince and the family knows- but our blog readers may not be aware) preparing to try out for a musical, Man of La Mancha. I tried out on Saturday and after I sang the song I prepared, the director came down with the musical´s song book. He wanted me to sing a song from the show. I WAS SO EXCITED! There were about 10 females that showed up to try-out and only 5 of them got the opportunity to sing at the end of auditions from the musical. I was asked to sing "It's all the Same" the song that Dulcinea sings (the lead female) and "I'm only thinking of him" the song that Don Quixote's niece and his housekeeper sing. I was the only female that is not a "regular" in Peoria theater, so it made me really nervous of the situation. All the females knew each other because they have been in so many plays together. Anyhow, at the end of our singing the director told us that there would be call backs for Dulcinea. Sadly, but at the same time releaved, I did NOT get a call back. They are tonight (a call back is usually used for the directors to compare people to see which person best portrays the character they have). The director said on Saturday that just because one didn't get a call back doesn't mean they are excluded from the show. Which means.... SO YOU'RE TELLING ME THERE'S A CHANCE!
Anyhow, I will let you know how I did. If I make it on the show, I except all the blog readers to come watch it... since it's been a LONG time since I have been in a show with a theatre company (1999ish).
I hoping to be a prostitute in the inn... just so I can say that and that would mean I'm in the chorus. They post cast no later than Wednesday. Let's hope I'm on that list!!!

The axe is coming
All personnel at WHOI-TV got a memo in their mailbox friday about a mandatory meeting this monday March 2nd at 9am. This is likely to be the proverbial ax falling on a lot of people at the station including me. I hope I get a call soon for the job at WMBD that I applied for. I am actually looking forward to this meeting cause there has been so many rumors going around that it will be nice to know what the heck is going to happen. I am going to go in prepared to lose my job, that way whatever happens I won't be disappointed. I'll let you all know what I hear.
Update (kinda): On the peoria pundit blog they are saying that the "merger" between WHOI and WEEK will be announced monday and only 6 people from WHOI will be keeping their job: 4 on air and 2 engineers and/or sales people. Here is the link if you want to read the story.
